Windows Phone 8.1 VS Android OS


Android and Windows Phone has become more slicker and more feature packed over the years and the latest versions Android KitKat 4.4.4 and Windows Phone 8.1 respectively.
 
Windows Phone Apps vs Android Apps

In Windows Phone 8.1 the number of available apps are fewer compared to android apps. Windows phone 8.1 apps includes many popular ones like Facebook and Instagram, but still there are only around 250,000 available.
Windows Phone applications has consistent look. But  android Apps have weird and wonderful interfaces.

If you want to select from a wide range of applications then go for android. Especially for gaming, Android has a wide range of more polished games available.
Windows Phone has inbuilt support for Microsoft Office products. In Android you can access Microsoft office products using third-party apps.

However, these are built in and work nicely on Windows Phone. If you are already invested in Microsoft Products, then the their mobile OS is a good step forward, so you can use your files and applications across phones, tablets, Windows computers

Customization
Windows Phone 8.1 is stylish in its looks. Windows Phone 8.1 stands out, with its vertically scrolling interface.
Android has its widgets, but Windows Phone's live tiles each of which is essentially a miniature widget. The live tiles beat widgets in terms of flexibility and customization options.
Live Tiles are  colorful and has less empty space than Android
.Android has a more conventional interface like other mobile OS’s, notably iOS. 
Android has rows of tiles with quite a lot of space between them  and it scrolls horizontally. There’s also a bar at the bottom which displays the same tiles.
The apps in Android are static icons but the widgets makes it a lot more customizable. In Android you can customize almost everything including the entire look and operation of the interface.
In Windows Phone from the home screen itself, you can get a glimpse of- photos of your contacts, emails in your inbox, upcoming appointments, recent shows on iPlayer ,ebooks, websites.

The new Action Center
Windows Phone’s Action Center is only a recent addition. This is a lot like the notification screen on Android, allowing you to access notifications and commonly used settings toggles from a pull down bar. It doesn't have the flexibility and ability to launch actions that the Android equivalent has.
At last Windows Phone 8.1 brings a speed dial function to the OS!!
Using android apps and customization options you can easily outdo almost any Windows Phone feature.

Google Now vs Cortana
They are similar in many ways, but they are not identical. Both are impressive in their own ways. Both of them will give you customized information and advice.
Both will respond to voice or written commands. But Google Now has an upper hand.

OneDrive vs Google drive
OneDrive the cloud storage platform of Windows Phone is in direct competition with Google Drive,  but OneDrive is only a maturing platform.

Conclusion
Windows Phone is still an OS that fewer than one in 20 people are using worldwide. Android and Windows Phone 8.1 will deliver the basics and even more advanced features.
 Windows Phone is slick, stylish and intuitive.
 Android has more features and more options.
If you want to select from a wide range of applications then go for android. Especially for gaming, Android has a wide range of more polished games available.
But if you want a smartphone that just works and looks good then Windows Phone 8.1 is arguably the better choice.
